Police Log

  • Rockview inmate apprehended: An inmate was apprehended early yesterday morning after he allegedly escaped from the State Correctional Institution at Rockview, Rockview state police said.

    Charles A. Hollenbach, 29, of Sunbury was taken into custody after police said they found him walking along state Route 26 near Centre Hall.

    Hollenbach was apprehended without incident, police said.

  • Handgun found in dorm room: A handgun was found in a dorm room and seized yesterday afternoon, University Police Services said.

    An anonymous phone call led police to the weapon -- a Beretta-32 Automatic, police said. Guns are not allowed on campus.

    Police said they are unable to release the name of the weapon's owner until they investigate the incident further.

  • Criminal Mischief: Leonard White reported that someone broke an exterior window in the northeast stairwell of Whitmore Laboratory sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, University police said.

    The damage is estimated at $100.

  • Criminal Mischief: Ronald Schnabel of Lemont reported that someone broke the front windshield and another window of his truck, the State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    The windshield was broken on Oct. 24. The second window was broken at about 10 Wednesday night, police said.

    No damage estimate was available.

  • Fire Alarm/Disorderly Conduct: A fire alarm was set off at about 1:15 yesterday morning on the second floor of Holmes Hall by a small amount of paper that was ignited on the doors of rooms 204 and 211, University Police Services said.

    The building was evacuated, but no damage was reported.

  • Harassment: Patricia Harrington reported that the Centre County Women's Resource Center, 140 Nittany Ave., received a threatening letter Monday, State College police said.

    The letter was printed on a computer and said, "The deed is done, your time is come," police said.

  • Missing Person: Sandy Recitano, 51, of New York, was reported missing from the State College area Wednesday, State College police said.

    Recitano was last seen on West Nittany Avenue between 4:30 and 6 Wednesday evening, police said.
