17-year-old boy shot in groin: A 17-year-old boy was accidentally shot yesterday in Rebersburg, Rockview state police said.
The boy was wounded in the groin area by a bullet from a small-caliber rifle, police said. He was transported by ambulance to Centre Community Hospital.
The boy said the gun was fired by someone he knows, police said.
Police would not release the boy's name because he is a minor. No information was available from the hospital on the boy's condition without his name.
Police are investigating the incident.

Accident: Anthony Mullan of 940 Cricklewood Road hit a guardrail on Puddintown Road in College Township while trying to avoid colliding with a deer yesterday, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Mullan was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
No damage estimate for the vehicle was available.

Drug Investigation: University employee Jerry Jones reported someone left a small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Rec Hall yesterday, University police said.
No suspect has been identified.

Fraud: An employee at Mid-State Bank in the Penn State Bookstore building reported someone issued the bank a bad check for $1,800 yesterday, University police said.
Police are investigating.

Health and Safety: State College police and the Centre County Coroner's Office identified the body of Thomas J. Pennel, which was found in a room at the Imperial Motor Inn, 118 S. Atherton St., Wednesday.
The autopsy did not reveal the cause of death, but there was no evidence that suggests foul play, State College police said.
The investigation is now focusing on toxicological examinations and circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body, police said.
