This is a response to Henry and Edith Irons' Oct. 6 letter "Clinton is a Nice Guy." For those of you who read the opinion and think you might be influenced by it, I hope you think again.
Not only was it a secondhand story, originally from a student who the Irons's met in a grocery store, but it was also a very unclear one. When did this happen? Five, 10, 15 years ago? Was Bill Clinton a student at this time? Was he an employee or an administrator simply doing his job? Or was he on his campaign trail visiting his alma mater and being a typical politician?
I am not saying Bill Clinton isn't a nice guy -- he may very well be -- however, I don't think that "anecdote" portrayed how he "respects people unconditionally" and "cares about people and has an understanding of the issues relevant to most Americans."
By the way, my father told me he was in McDonald's back in 1982 and he couldn't find the bathroom. George Bush happened to be there and directed him to it. How thoughtful! What a nice guy. I think I'll vote for him.
Don't vote for someone (especially the President of the United States) because he is "a nice guy," but rather because of his views on political and economic issues.
