I am responding Lisa Eddy's letter titled "Desecrated" in the Sept. 23 The Daily Collegian. It seems to me that Lisa knows very little about the effects of marijuana. It doesn't turn people into monsters who wish to attack football fans or, better yet, pre-law majors. It doesn't make people rip off their clothes and fornicate in public. (Love has been known to do that to people and it is still legal to love someone.) It doesn't do a lot of things that people with closed minds think it does. I guess that you don't know about "Gentle Thursday" which took place during the '60s and '70s here, the last Thursday before all the students go home for the summer. Masses of people gathered on the HUB lawn and just hung out for the day and enjoyed their last moments together with their friends before they went home. And, yes, some of them smoked pot, but no there were no attacks, no violence, hence the name "Gentle Thursday." As for the legal joints that will be passed out, I think that you can rest easy knowing that there will probably not be any "illegal" joints distributed since pot is expensive. And I don't know anybody who would give out their stash to a crowd. Ending on another note of hypocrisy, you say how Kampia is "desecrating the University we hold so dear." Just how dear do you hold the University when you want leave and sue it on the grounds that your safety is endangered? Did you make this same pledge during the riot on Beaver Avenue last semester? Or when the football team beat Notre Dame and zealous fans forcibly tore down the goal post from Beaver Stadium and paraded it around campus that we all hold dear? Were you worried about your safety then?

Lisa, you seem like the type of person who would sue somebody if you tripped over your own feet. Why don't you stop by on Saturday, you could learn something. That is, if you aren't afraid of people having a good time listening to music. There will be no monsters to attack you.
