This letter is addressed to everyone who cheered like mad during Jerry Brown's speech on Thursday. I'd like to remind you all that we cheer at rock concerts too, but we don't vote for Guns 'n' Roses. Just like Axl Rose, Jerry took the stage a good quarter-hour late and spent 45 minutes posturing, insulting people and voicing extreme opinions with little or no substance behind them. All the audience takes away from an experience like this is a headache.
I'm very impressed that so many of you showed an interest in our government. Please continue this high level of activism in the future, but cool off and use your heads when it comes time to vote. Don't be swept up by slogans alone. Find out what is behind the words. In Jerry Brown's case, there is nothing there.
