The Council of Commonwealth Student Governments elected a new coordinator at the group's final meeting of the semester Saturday.
Mark Roxberry (sophomore-Russian translation), president of the Student Government Association at Berks Campus, will be next year's coordinator. He will replace the current coordinator, Greg Lalle (senior-economics) and begin his term in the fall.
Roxberry will appoint John Meredith as his vice coordinator. The council will approve Meredith at its first meeting in the fall.
One of Roxberry's goals is to improve relations with The Daily Collegian and establish a liasion for the Collegian.
Roxberry also hopes to implement a committee structure to get things done more easily. By doing so, the committees could make recommendations to the council, and if the recommendations are approved, they can be sent to the correct medium, a process much like that of the University Faculty Senate, Roxberry said.
The council has a lot of potential to get things done, but isn't living up to it, he said.
"I don't think the information we have is being used to our best advantage," Roxberry said.
A lot of work was done this past year, but not effectively, he said, adding that he hopes to improve that next year. CCSG representatives to the University Student Advisory Board and to the Undergraduate Student Government are "token reps" and should be used to get more things done within CCSG, he said.
Lalle said his term as coordinator went well and he did what he could, but said some blocks within the administration frustrated him at times.
