NEWS
 
Two area teen-age girls reported missing have returned home, and police have located a third missing girl.
 
Former University professor William T. McSweeny was bound for trial yesterday in Centre County Court on charges of theft, tampering with records and receiving stolen property.
 
Sporting a conservative haircut and an ultra-traditional suit, Jim Van Horn doesn't look like the person who would be following the long-haired, activist "Nelson twins," Rob Kampia and Beth Schneck.
 
While several University students wait to see if their dialysis unit will be saved, state officials continue questioning the unit's spending practices.
 
Although two area lawmakers said they want to open the University's budget, they differ on the degree.
 
Lt. Gov. Mark Singel said he is hopeful the state government will be able to reallocate funds for higher education despite dramatic cuts in Gov. Robert P. Casey's budget.
 
Rob Kampia waved the old Undergraduate Student Government administration goodbye by revealing a shirt saying, "BYE, BYE BUTTHEADS," after he won the USG presidential race last night.

Philadeplhia needs just a little bit more luck this season.
 
The good news for Pirates fans is that Barry Bonds probably won't have another of those horrendous postseasons -- at least not for Pittsburgh. The bad news, though, is the salary market seems to be driving the Pirates from contention.
 
Always the bridesmaid and never the bride. That's what Penn State must feel like, as it lost out again when it came time to recruit Michelle Marciniak.

When the 64-team field for the NCAA Basketball tournament was announced, an unfamiliar face made the cut. It was the first time any University of Delaware men's team has made the NCAA tournament at any level, for any sport.
 
It's quite a feat for a tennis team to win a meet without losing one set. But when a team wins five-of-nine matches by a score of 6-0, 6-1 or better, it's simply a mismatch.
