Proud to run

I feel compelled to write in answer to yesterday's editorial opinion. I would like to take this time to explain about running for an Undergraduate Student Government office. This is no cake-walk! The Board of Opinion seems to think that this year's candidates are not "particularly impressive" and are "just mediocre."

The truth is that I am proud to be one of the six people who wants to make a difference. I challenge the Board of Opinion to try and keep the schedule of any USG candidate. We have had meetings "out the wazoo" the past three weeks as well classes. All of the candidates have had to write speeches, attend meetings and pass out handbills and fliers.

I'm sorry that we could not be more impressive and grandiose during our campaigns.

You are so well informed and active on campus that you should have put up an ideal candidate. If the Board of Opinion will not stand up, then shut up. Frankly, the amount of work and time all of us have devoted is impressive.

Rich Schaffer
USG presidential candidate
