The editorial board of The Daily Collegian is even more schizophrenic than I had thought. In recent editorials, the board has consistently opined that next year's student government should: not be "service-oriented" and should be led by activists. One would think that Beth Schneck and myself would have received The Daily Collegian's endorsement, considering that: we have aggressively opposed a service-oriented Undergraduate Student Government and we are the only activists running for office. Yesterday's editorial opinion, however, stated that two of the other candidates would better serve the students primarily because they "have done their homework." Homework? Of course they've done their homework: They've spent two years in an impotent USG doing their homework, two years studying the intricacies of Penn State's budget. How much has it accomplished? Can you name three things that USG has done in the last two years? We don't need USG leaders doing their homework. We need action. Judge me by my activism. Judge Beth by her commitment to women's issues. Judge both of us by our platform.
Rob Kampia
USG presidential candidate
