  • Man attempts Uni-Mart robbery: A clerk at Uni-Mart, 151 S. Garner St., reported that a man in his early 20s, about 5-feet-10-inches tall, attempted to rob the store early yesterday morning, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

The suspect told the clerk twice to give him the money from the cash register, but the clerk ignored him, police said. The suspect then began feeling around in his pocket, but the clerk told him that he did not believe he had a gun and asked the suspect to show it to him.

As the clerk began reaching for the telephone, the suspect attempted to open the register himself, knocked it on the floor and ran from the store, police said.

Police have no suspects at this time.

  • 16-year-old girl reported missing: Erica L. Swartentruber, 16, of State College, was reported missing Sunday night after she left her house and did not return, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

She is described as a 5-foot-4-inch 120-pound, white girl with brown hair and brown eyes.

  • Assault: A male student reported that he was assaulted Thursday during a basketball game at the Intramural Building, University Police Services said. The suspect allegedly struck the victim in the mouth after a verbal argument, University police said.

    No other information was available.

  • Burglary: JoAnn Hafer of 1022 Amelia Ave. reported that someone took an undetermined amount of cash from her residence overnight Thursday, State College police said.

    The house was unlocked.

  • Theft: Wash 'Round the Clock, 230B W. College Ave., reported that someone picked the locks of the machines in the Laundromat and took about $100 from them, State College police said.
