Police Log

  • RA reports weekend rape: Resident Assistant Kassie Hilgert of 318 Runkle reported that a female student was raped in a dorm between midnight and 12:30 yesterday morning, University Police Services said.

    No other information was available.

  • 15-year-old girl reported missing: Sarah Harris, 15, no address available, was reported missing at 2 Sunday morning, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Her mother dropped her off at a friend's residence at Toftrees, Country Club Lane, at 7:30 Saturday evening and she has not returned, police said.

    Her mother told police to look at Campus Casino, 320 E. College Ave., or Playland, 350 E. College Ave., police said.

    Harris is 5 feet 2 inches tall, 105 pounds, and has red shoulder-length hair, blue eyes and fair skin with freckles, police said.

  • Man killed after auto accident: Terry Joseph Tyler of Mount Union was killed yesterday morning when his truck skidded off the road and hit two trees, State Police at Huntingdon said.

    Tyler was traveling east on State Route 22 in Henderson Township at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle, went off the road, hit the guard rails and became airborne before his truck stopped at the second tree it hit, police said.

    He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Huntingdon County coroner at 3:05 a.m., police said.

  • Buck found trapped in wire fence: Diane Farr of Boalsburg called police about 4:20 Saturday afternoon after a buck became tangled in a wire fence in Farr's backyard, State College police said.

    The buck, which appeared to have a broken back after trying to leap the fence with a herd of deer, was shot dead by a Pennsylvania Game Commission officer, police said.

  • Theft: Tina McGee of 228 Bigler Hall reported the theft of her hiking boots from outside her room between 1:45 and 2:30 p.m. March 22, University police said.

    The boots are worth $115.

  • Criminal Mischief: Marcela Moreno of 1055 Crabapple Drive reported that someone put a pencil hole in an oil painting she was displaying at the Slavic Festival at the HUB about 1 Friday afternoon, University police said.

    The painting is worth $300.

  • Simple Assault: Timothy Hanes, 20, of 319 N. Burrowes Road, sustained a broken nose after he was punched about 2:30 yesterday morning, State College police said.

    Hanes told police that a group of men entered Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, 319 N. Burrowes Road, and one of them insulted some women there, police said. Hanes then asked the men to leave, followed them outside and was punched in the face by one of them, police said.

    Hanes was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
