Protect freedom
I often wonder if the students on this campus realize the implications of the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act that is going before the Supreme Court prior to the next presidential election. It is our state's oppressive law that is being viewed by the entire country. It is time that students in Pennsylvania speak out against a law that will affect them and their children for generations to come. Slowly but surely womyn are losing their rights. As usual it started with stripping poor, young and underrepresented womyn and girls of their reproductive freedom. Soon, womyn in college will be looking back and asking what happened to their freedom. No womon should have her rights of birth control, prenatal care, or abortion taken away. We need to educate each other, and our lawmakers about the basic right we all deserve -- control over our own bodies. Please, I appeal to the students to attend the speech by Faye Wattleton, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Take the first step, learn about what is being done to your rights, after all, your body is a battleground. The first step is restricting abortion, then outlawing abortion and finally outlawing contraception.
