The women's golf team heads into the new season full of expectations.
The team ended the fall with a win in the Lady Lion Invitational. Team captain Kristin Clark won the tournament and senior Kerry Lee O'Leary finished second.
They hope their fine play will carry over to this semester.
The Lady Lions will play in two tournaments in Florida over spring break. They will play in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational in Winter Park on Monday and Tuesday and then head to Tampa for the Snowbird Intercollegiate for rounds on Thursday and Friday.
Both tournaments are somewhat of a mystery to Penn State. They finished second last year at the the Bell Invitational but will play at a different course this time round. The top teams playing include Michigan, Illinois and Northern Illinois, said Assistant Coach Denise St. Pierre.
The Lady Lions will then tee it up at the Snowbird Intercollegiate for the first time. It will also be the first time the team will play at the Pebble Creek Country Club. Fifteen teams will compete in the tournament including Northern Illinois and Big Ten rivals Wisconsin and Illinois.
Penn State goes into the two tournaments well prepared.
"This has been one of our best winter practices that we've had since I've been here," said St. Pierre. "There has been a great amount of enthusiasm, motivation and dedication to all facets of what we've asked them to do."
