Police Log

  • Man nearly robbed by masked man: Michael Dunkle of Boalsburg reported that someone tried to rob him as he was depositing his company's receipts in the night deposit box at Mid-State Bank, 1330 S. Atherton St., State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    The attempted thief sprayed mace in Dunkle's face as the two wrestled with the bag of money.

    The man gave up and ran away after Dunkle slammed the person's hand in the car door a few times, police said.

    The attempted thief is described as a 6-foot white man who was wearing gloves, all black clothing and a black ski mask.

  • Police investigating pellet gun at school: State College police are investigating a 15-year-old juvenile who was carrying a pellet gun around the State College Area High School on Thursday, 653 Westerly Parkway, and pretending it was real.

    Rumors were circulating the school about the gun all day, and it was later found in a locker in the North Building, police said.

    Police are unsure whether charges will be brought against the youth.

  • Burglary: Arthur Titzel of 478 E. Beaver Ave. reported that someone took about 25 compact discs from his apartment early yesterday morning, State College police said.

    It is believed the suspect entered through an unlocked window.

    The value of the compact discs is unknown.

  • Criminal Mischief: William Thompson of 601 Glenn Road reported that someone slashed three of his car tires between Feb. 24 and Saturday, State College police said.

    The tires are worth about $120.

  • Criminal Mischief: John Mordan of 35 Hamilton Hall reported that someone broke a window on the ground floor of Hamilton Hall Saturday, University police said.

    The amount of the damage is unknown.

  • Criminal Mischief: Melissa Feld of 309 E. Beaver Ave. reported that someone broke the rear window and dented the roof of her car by throwing jars of food from an apartment balcony, State College police said.

    The car was parked overnight yesterday in a lot at 300 S. Pugh St.

    The amount of the damage is unknown.
