A University student died at 8:30 yesterday morning at Centre Community Hospital following a one-vehicle accident on state Route 322.
Keith John Wagner, 22, of 113 Sandy Ridge Road, was pronounced dead by Dr. Douglas King. He died during surgery for abdominal hemorrhaging, according to a Rockview State Police news release.
A representative for Centre Community Hospital declined to comment further on the nature of Wagner's injuries.
Wagner was heading east on state Route 322, about 1/10 of a mile east of the Sand Mountain Road intersection at about 3 yesterday morning. For unknown reasons, his car left the highway and traveled onto the northern berm, according to the release.
He lost control and traveled about 200 feet before striking a large rock. The car traveled 15 more feet, striking several more rocks, until it drifted backwards and came to rest on the embankment.
Wagner (senior-film) was thrown from the vehicle during the accident. He was not wearing his seat belt.
His 1984 Chrysler was totalled.
State police were assisted at the scene by Centre Hall Fire Company and Ambulance Service. Wagner was taken to Centre Community Hospital by Centre Hall Ambulance.
Funeral services are being handled by Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St.
Funeral plans were not available at press time.
