Get the spirit
In Albertville, France representatives of countries from all around the globe have gathered to participate in the good will of the Olympic Winter Games. On Feb. 10, Bonnie Blair won the first gold medal for the United States. In the Feb. 11 issue of the Collegian I have failed to find an article, a title or a word about her achievement or the games in general (aside from some statistics on ice hockey). Instead of focusing your efforts on rape trials, Japan bashing, Chino Wilson, Rene Portland bashing, etc., how about focusing on "The Games," the one event that comes along once in every four years. An event that brings men and women of all races, religions, and political backgrounds together to compete in the friendly atmosphere of the spirit of the Olympics. Maybe then, just for a moment, we will notice that this world really is not that bad a place in which to live.
