NEWS
 
A dozen people demonstrating against drug laws and for abortion rights confronted state Rep. Stephen Freind yesterday as he opened his headquarters for his U.S. Senate campaign, across the the street from the University.

No new money, no new equipment and no new jobs.
 
Here's a memo from St. Valentine: "Time to reward your heart and body and celebrate Healthy Loving Week."
 
A man standing on stage with his feet strapped to cinder blocks or a woman performing in a space veiled off by cheesecloth may not meet many spectators' ideas about art.

SPORTS
 
Anyone who must swim alongside Fran McDermid may have a tough time keeping up. But freshman sprinter Deni Rudy has not had much of a problem.
 
It has not been uncommon at a women's swimming and diving meet this year to overhear a spectator say, "She's that great freshman distance swimmer -- Stacey Regan."
 
It's an old-fashioned case of role reversal.
 
The women's gymnastics team (1-2) had a respite from dual meet competition last weekend.
 
No one ever said that adjusting to a new position was easy. And very few players who make an adjustment feel at ease during their first outings at the new spot.
 
The men's basketball team bounced back from an eight-point halftime deficit and outscored Old Dominion 12-4 in the final two minutes to grab an 84-79 road victory last night.
 
For the women's basketball team, going on the road has been more than just playing a game.
 
The Stanley Cup Finals. The World Series. The Super Bowl. The NCAA Basketball Final Four.

Although it might seem secondary to powerful spikes and key blocks, passing is an integral part of collegiate volleyball. Just ask the Penn State men's team.
