The article "Unlocked doors blamed for six local burglaries" in the Collegian on Jan. 24 is ridiculous. Whoever finds merit in this story must be desperate. I feel that leaving an apartment open at any hour is an invitation to an intruder. This is the '90s.
Instead of pretending we live in a crime-free society, let's face the facts that we do not. Simply wanting to believe in a crime-free environment does not guarantee its existence. The only way to guarantee this is by taking action. So let's start taking action and locking our doors because then a crime-free environment will become a reality.
