Police Log

  • Van and car collide on Atherton Street: A van driven by Ricardo Perez, 22, of Bronx, N.Y., collided with a car driven by Meredith Nicole Grimes, 21, of 725 S. Atherton St., around 3 Sunday afternoon, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Perez was driving north on N. Atherton Street when he approached a green light at the intersection, police said. Perez drove through the intersection and into Grimes' car. Grimes said she edged into the intersection and attempted to turn when the light was yellow.

    Perez was taken to Centre Community Hospital for leg bruises, police said, but a hospital spokeswoman said he was not treated.

  • Criminal Mischief: Someone reported that a basement window was broken at Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, 322 Fraternity Row, between Saturday and Sunday, State College police said.

    No damage estimate is available

  • Robbery: Cavan C. O'Grady of 434 W. College Ave., was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash about 2:45 Monday morning in D Alley, State College police said.

    O'Grady told police he was grabbed around the neck and pushed to the ground. The suspect asked for the money in O'Grady's wallet and then ran to his car.

    O'Grady described the suspect as an 18-year-old white man with short brown hair, weighing about 250 pounds.

  • Theft: Earl D. Cowfer of Port Matilda reported that his brown leather jacket was taken between midnight and 1:10 Friday morning from a pile of coats at the Shandygaff Saloon, rear of 212 E. College Ave, State College police said.

  • Theft: George McCormick reported that someone pried open a vending machine in the Playhouse Theatre sometime this weekend, University police said.

    The cost of the damages is $166.54.

  • Theft: Chia-Hsing Huang of 211 W. Foster Ave. reported that his textbook was taken from the second floor of Pattee around 5 Sunday evening, University police said.

    The book is worth $114.
