Police Log

  • Two rings stolen from display: Two rings were stolen from a college ring display at the Penn State Bookstore yesterday afternoon, University Police Services said.

    Karen Brooks from Artcarved Rings in Austin, Texas, reported that two women's college rings were taken from her display at about 3:20 p.m., while she was waiting on another customer.

    The rings are worth $620.

  • Police investigate fraternity for drugs: State College Bureau of Police Services investigated drug violations at Sigma Kappa Nu fraternity, 251 S. Pugh St., Monday night.

    No other information was available.

  • Criminal Mischief: C. Nadine Deitrich of 103C Pattee reported that two books in Pattee were found damaged yesterday afternoon, University police said.

    Damage is estimated at $212.

  • Theft: Armando Gonzalez of 646 E. College Ave. reported that his Sony stereo component system was taken sometime between Jan. 8 and Jan. 17, while it was stored at 255 E. Beaver Ave., State College police said.

    The stereo is valued at $1,000.

  • Theft: Stacie Belding of 1644 W. College Ave. reported that her skis and bindings were taken from the Tussey Mountain Ski Area sometime Monday evening, after they had been left outside, State College police said.

    The skis are valued at $460. The value of the bindings is unknown.

  • Theft: Sharon Frazey of 406 Shulze reported that a plastic bag with various items was stolen from the Shulze Hall loading dock sometime Dec. 14, University police said.

    The bag and contents are valued at $250.

  • Theft: Roland Kassis of 747 E. Beaver Ave. reported that his backpack and its contents were taken from the top of the lockers in the Penn State Bookstore lobby yesterday afternoon, University police said.

    The bag and contents are worth $130.
