NEWS
 
"Bleak" and "stagnant" are plastered on the front pages of newspapers to describe employment availability throughout the county, state and nation.
 
The Nude Maja has a new home.
 
As students who ride the Town and Campus Loops may have already discovered by now, fares have increased by 5 cents for the second time in a year.
 
The small population of black men on many college campuses, including Penn State, is due to several factors -- including the lack of support from many universities and society in general.

The state Supreme Court's decision to stay the execution of Henry P. Fahy postponed Pennsylvania's first death penalty carried out by lethal injection.

With an off-season that included several injuries and a mid-semester coaching change, the men's gymnastics team began its 1992 campaign with several question marks.
 
For most new coaches, their first year usually consists of introductions, changing lineups, and new strategies. But for Men's Gymnastics Coach Randy Jepson, the first year at the helm has been old business so far.
 
The Rec Hall faithful definitely have to be happy about their team's 81-59 performance against a talented Brown team last night at Rec Hall.
 
"Da Bears" won't want to come to Rec Hall anymore. Saturday night Penn State trounced the Morgan State Bears 102-51. Last night the the Brown Bears (5-6) suffered the same consequences as the Lions (10-4) cruised to a 81-59 win.
 
Women's Gymnastics Coach Judi Avener has a word for the gymnasts who comprise the heart and soul of her team, those who perform with routine consistency.

How in the world do you follow up two back-to-back national championships? The Penn State men's and women's fencing squads are the only teams at the University which need to ponder that point, and the answer really depends upon who you ask.

The word "collective" sounds like an outdated Russian principle from oh, say, 1991. But the idea behind collectives is alive and well in State College in 1992 thanks to the Centre Region Musicians Collective.
 
State College author Linda Rivers has a way of turning tragic situations into inspiration.
 
Is it Inks and ten or INXS and X. Either way, the masters of verbal confusion are back with their new album Live Baby Live. Or is it Live Baby Live?
 
Contrary to popular belief, The Sounding is not breaking up.
 
Kids don't usually like to go to the opera. But when it's a story written by a kid, they love it.
