Police Log

  • Man cited after car accident: One person was cited for failing to yield when making a left turn in a three-car accident at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at South Pugh Street and East Nittany Avenue, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Geoffrey Whitmore, 25, of 2658 Sleepy Hollow Drive, attempted to turn left onto East Nittany Avenue into the path of a car driven by Roman Fomichev, no age given, of 1007 Golfview Drive, that was northbound on South Pugh Street, police said.

    Fomichev's car was pushed into a car on East Nittany Avenue driven by Ana Cordero, 33, of Amherst, Ma., police said.

    Whitmore suffered a cut to the top of his head but refused medical treatment. He was cited for failing to yield, police said.

  • Theft: Robert Gibson, of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, 200 E. Beaver Ave., reported that someone took his Trek 850 21-speed mountain bike sometime over the summer when it was left inside the fraternity house, State College police said.

    The bike is worth $550.

  • Theft: University employee Bob Smith reported that two unidentified males took a sweeper from Boucke Building around 7 p.m. Wednesday, University Police Services said.

    The sweeper is worth $410.

  • Theft: James Bothe, 331 W. Fairmount Ave., reported that someone took his 10-speed Raleigh Capri bicycle shortly after midnight yesterday when it was parked against a vehicle in his driveway, State College police said.

    The bike is worth $150.

  • Theft: Andrea Kopf, 10 Vairo Blvd., reported that someone took 30 cassette tapes and a plastic carrying case from her locked jeep when it was parked at 100 S. Garner St. between 9:30 and 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, State College police said.

    Police said someone unsnapped the soft top of the jeep and gained entry.

    The tapes and carrying case are worth $100.
