Face the facts

I would like to congratulate Nicole Morris on joining many of the writers of the Collegian's "My Opinion" in stereotyping one group of the thousands of Penn State students.

I am a male who did purchase the October issue of Playboy, not so I could spend the "five miunite in the bathroom," but for the same reson you bought the magazine . . . curiosity. I have spent the last five and a half months with my girlfriend, who I love, honor and respect. I never once betrayed her, never once denied her to do something she wanted to do, and never went around with the "guys" saying, "I'm gonna get laid!" I don't know where you get off saying that this is how all men react and talk. In fact, I would deck the guy who called my girlfiend a "dog, slut, bitch or even the dreaded 'C' word" because she wan't up to their standards.

Finally, you wonder why pornography fails to print "health sex?" Face the facts: groups, parental organizations and the media would still have a field day with a magazine that had photographs of people "making love." Why? Because it still shows naked women and men.

I would like to end with a few questions. Why must we always read about how men act when something like this occurs? What would happen if Playgirl wanted to do a layout of the Men of the Big Ten? And I know from listening to SOME women talk, some of these women are reading this right now and saying, "Yeah, but that's different."
