Like most arriving students, Anna Griswold said she was overwhelmed by the University's size when she first came here. And like most students, Griswold, recently appointed assistant vice president for student financial aid, said she has since gotten over that feeling.
 
Centre County may join the ranks of about 45 other counties in the state fighting the war on drugs.
 
Even though Kathy Jeffries is a freshman, she is already concerned with choosing a major.
 
A commission last week authorized revisions to an award-winning design for the Korean War Memorial, angering four University professors who designed it.
 
The Asian American Student Coalition elected next year's officers last night.
 
State College Borough Council agreed at a work session last night to lower the parking fee for the Phi Psi 500 on April 13.
 
 
SPORTS
 
It takes hard work, dedication and mental preparedness to be successful as a college golfer. Matt Shiley's got all that -- plus a whole lot more.
 
After dominating James Madison in a 17-5 rout on Sunday, the No. 1 women's lacrosse team will attempt to tap that same aggressive spirit as it travels to Lafayette to take on the No. 5 Lady Leopards.
 
The men's tennis team took on a tough West Virginia team this weekend and lost 5-1 in a match that was closer than the score may seem. They will have a chance to rebound when they travel to Bloomsburg today.
 
The 20-4 women's tennis team ended its regular season, in an eventful weekend, with three victories.
 
Bill Wright, the adviser for the Penn State handball club, said this past weekend's tournament at the Intramural Building was a "success."
 
Amy Stitler was not horsing around this weekend.
 
The women's golf team placed sixth in an 18-team tournament at Bloomington, Ind., this weekend but was still disappointed with its performance.
 
Momentum is the operative word for the softball team.

Stephen Sondheim's musical "Into The Woods" was not simply about beloved fairy tale characters interacting. Saturday afternoon's show creatively explored the consequences of achieving what one desires.
 
For lyricist Stephen Sondheim, no subject is beyond exploration.
