Letter to the Editor
Can't have both
You have a porno policy? I read with amazement your front-page story entitled "Playboy interviews PSU women" on April 2. Doesn't it seem just a bit hypocritical that the Collegian's advertising policy is to "not accept advertising for the X-rated movies or products determined to be of a pornographic nature." Yet you choose to print a "news" story covering the Playboy visit, and on the front page no less. I'm sure Playboy doesn't mind the free advertising you gave them. How about your March 23 front page story "(Un)dressed to thrill," which featured a "male entertainer" and his recent performance at a local bar? Am I to understand that your policy prohibits paid advertisements which are deemed to be of a pornographic nature, but you give front-page billing to a Collegian staff writer's story covering the same material? You can't have it both ways (well, you can, but why do it your way and lose advertising money?) Make a decision: Print both advertisements and "news" or neither one. Personally, I hope you choose the latter and save some trees.
