We are Christian. We are a lesbian and a gay man. And we are furious. It is obvious to us, through the publication of Robert Baylor's letter, that we are not being heard.

You, Mr. Baylor, and other "Christians" like you, are ignoring the very foundations of your own faith. Christ's teachings in the New Testatment emphasize over and over again the call to Christian love for all.

God alone will sit in judgement, not you or any other human being. "Judge not, lest ye be judged," is so often quoted as to be cliche; do you still not hear it?

By protesting Rene Portland's policy of discrimination, we are not asking for your sanctioned approval of our personal lives, we are only asking for our right to be honest and safe.

You cannot change us. We have always been members of society. We are all classes, all colors, all religions. And we will no longer tolerate the systematic, institutionalization of bigotry.

It is people like you, Mr. Baylor, who make honest religion so difficult for gay men, lesbians and bisexual people. God has never cast us aside. He created us; your narrow-mindedness has nothing to do with our lives.

We will not be silenced. Until this campus has "sexual orientation" in the non-discrimination policy which protects us against the moralist dictates of people who refuse to recognize us as rational adults, we will continue to demand its passage.

Next week is Gay Pride week. We will spend those days in happy affirmation of ourselves, our identities, our lives. You cannot stop us. No matter how you continue to oppress us, we shall overcome.
