  • Man dies in collision with tractor-trailer: A Jefferson County man was killed early yesterday morning when his car collided with a tractor-trailer in Brown Township, Mifflin County, Lewistown State Police said.

Kevin E. Burgeson, 29, of Punxsutawney, was traveling east on Route 322, west of Lewistown, at 3 a.m. when he lost control of his car, which drifted into the westbound lane, police said.

Burgeson's car struck the rear wheels of the westbound truck, driven by Newton Booth of Strattonville, and continued for another 50 feet before stopping in the westbound lane, police said.

Burgeson was pronounced dead at the scene by Mifflin County Coroner A. Reid Leopold, police said.

Booth was not treated for injuries, police said.

  • Burglary: Sallie Updyke and Timothy Stone, both of 100 Hubler Road, reported that jewelery and firearms were taken from their home between 7:15 a.m. and noon yesterday, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

Police said the front door was forced open and $4,130 in jewelery and $400 in rifles and shotguns were taken.

  • Indecent Exposure: An employee of Thom McCan at the Nittany Mall reported that a man exposed himself to her in the store between 12:30 and 12:45 yesterday afternoon, State College police said.

Police said the man is described as about 6 feet 2 inches tall with brown hair. He was last seen walking east toward Sears, police said.

  • Theft: Thomas Everingham of 802 Strafford Drive reported that an original oil painting was taken from outside his home between 4 and 6 Sunday evening, State College police said.

Police said Everingham was unloading his car and left the $200 painting leaning against the car door. When he realized he had left it outside, he went out to find it had been taken, police said.
