Before the airing of the Rodney King beating on national TV, most Americans had no idea that police could act so brutally. This sort of incident seemed to exist "out there" as someone else's problem.
 
University President Joab Thomas said he will present the faculty senate's recommendation to add "sexual orientation" to Penn State's non-discrimination policy to the Board of Trustees at its May meeting.
 
A prisoner remained at large last night after escaping from the Centre County Prison in Bellefonte yesterday morning where he was being held for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a Bellefonte woman one week ago.
 
Maybe it was because Fritz's folks were there and his Dad was playing the fiddle with them, but the boys seemed nervous.
 
Peter Koch's interest in inmate art began when he bought an old jail in Williamsport to house his art gallery.

The men's gymnastics team, ranked fifth in the nation, is off this weekend as it gets set for the Eastern Regionals on April 6 at Ohio State. The two weeks off from competition will give the team a chance to clear up some injuries and get set for a championship run.
 
Without looking at the schedule, no one would ever know that the third-ranked women's lacrosse team is playing the first- and second-ranked teams this weekend.
 
Baseball coach Joe Hindelang is confident about the 5-9 Lions' chances against Atlantic 10 power West Virginia in two weekend doubleheaders.
 
The softball team will compete in the second annual Lady Lion Blue Classic this weekend and hopes to repeat last year's success.
 
A team can only succeed with the cooperation of all its members.
 
After losing what was said to be a must-win game, the men's lacrosse team looks to get back on the winning track tomorrow.
 
This weekend, the Midshipmen from Navy cordially invite the Lions from Penn State to participate in an outdoor track challenge, at The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
 
The women's tennis team will try to get back on a winning track when it meets Boston University and Cornell today and tomorrow.
 
Penn State may have a national championship in basketball after all.
 
Tomorrow the rugby club hopes to regain its preseason tournament form in a match termed critical by Coach Bruce Hale.
