A Bellefonte man pleaded guilty late Wednesday afternoon to charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and possession of firearms without a license, Centre County Judge David E. Grine said.
Barry L. Davis, 41, was scheduled to stand trial yesterday at the Centre County courthouse on charges stemming from a shooting at a Bellefonte parking lot on July 25.
Davis, Christopher Haupt of 158 Hilltop St. and Tim Breon of Bellefonte were in the NAPA Auto Parts parking lot, 203 S. Spring St., at about 9:20 p.m. on July 25 when Davis fired a shot from a .38-caliber revolver in the direction of Haupt.
According to court records, Davis challenged Haupt and Breon to a fight earlier that evening at the Omar Bar, 122 W. Bishop St., Bellefonte. The three men left the bar separately and met again in the NAPA lot.
When they arrived at the parking lot, Davis pulled the gun from his truck and threatened to shoot. He then fired it at Haupt but missed.
A nearby Bellefonte police officer was alerted to the incident by three women sitting on a porch across the street.
