-- Elaine Meder, 25, of 424 Waupelani Drive, was bound over for trial yesterday on charges of first-and third-degree murder, a spokeswoman for the Centre County court administrator's office said.
According to court records, Meder confessed to strangling her newborn baby with its umbilical cord in the fall of 1985. Meder's mother, Gloria, of Ferguson Township, testified that she put the baby in the freezer and later cremated it in a wood-burning stove. She said she thought the child had been stillborn. Gloria Meder can not face charges because the statute of limitations expired on any charges that would pertain to her.
Meder is scheduled to stand trial in June or July.
