Pro-choice rhetoric

In response to Dana DiFilippo's most recent pro-abortion article (Feb.25), it was no surprise to hear this rhetoric being echoed by the pro-abortion activists at Penn State.

We are told that Pennsylvania has the most "restrictive" abortion law in the nation and that this act "terrorizes" women. Yet, closer examination of the abortion law reveals that it is still easier to kill an unborn baby than it is to undergo routine elective surgery.

The so-called pro-choice movement claims to support education, public discussion and informed choices about the abortion issue. Yet, they oppose the provision of medical information needed for a truly informed choice by women facing a crisis pregnancy situation. Likewise, the campus pro-abortion group has recently refused to engage in a public debate with the student pro-life group. Why will they not agree to debate students, local activists or national experts on campus?

The politically correct agenda of the pro-abortion enthusiasts frames the abortion issue in terms of womens' rights alone, thus neglecting the natural rights of unborn children. They ignore the intrinsic value, human dignity and immeasurable worth of each precious individual life. For some reason they believe that only they can fully understand the true nature of this unborn human being.

Perhaps the campus pro-abortion group could explain to us when they begin to value the life of an unborn child. Do they approve of late term abortions up to and including the date of expected birth or, instead, do they support the artificial and confusing trimester approach? It will be difficult to seriously regard the moral claims and credentials of pro-choice advocates until they can untangle their seemingly nihilistic anti-life position.
