Tax help
There are several possible sources of help for students trying to complete their tax returns which were not included in The Daily Collegian article (Feb. 22) "Services make students' return forms less taxing." The Graduate Student Association annually produces a "Tax Guide" to help graduate students. The Guide contains information on how assistantships, fellowships and other sources of income for graduate students are treated. Free copies are available from the GSA office in 111B Kern Building. GSA also held a tax workshop last Tuesday. The Office of International Students, 222 Boucke, has a volunteer to help with taxes. International students needing assistance may go to the OIS office from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Finally, on March 13, the Returning Adult Center will sponsor a program by Charles Enis, associate professor of accounting, will be held at 12:30 p.m. in 329 Boucke Building. It will include a summary of the basic tax format, a summary of tax law changes, a discussion of IRAs, standardized and itemized deductions and other tax issues.
