  • Stolen car strikes house: A stolen car with a stolen license plate struck a Rush Township house early Saturday morning, Philipsburg State Police said.

A 1979 AMC Pacer belonging to James Webster of Philipsburg was taken from a Rush Township residence at about 2:15 a.m., police said.

A car with a similar description was also involved in a retail theft of gasoline at a Philipsburg Sheetz market a short time later, police said.

The registration plate found on the Pacer was taken from a vehicle belonging to Michael Sankey of West Decatur Friday night or early Saturday morning, police said. Police said they believe the plate was taken before the Pacer and was put on the car then.

Andrew Kovach of Rush Township reported that the Pacer was driven through his yard and struck his house at about 2:20 a.m., police said. Two people got out of the car and fled the area on foot, police said.

Police are investigating the thefts and criminal mischief.

The car is owned by BMW Leasing in Barrington, Ill.
