Male faculty at University Park make about $16,030 more each year than female faculty, according to an Office of Planning and Analysis report to be presented to the University Faculty Senate at its meeting today.
Roughly $15,679 of that total is attributable to rank, department and tenure differences, the report said.
The $351 difference is an "unexplained" gender difference, according to the report.
The report included 1,304 men and 334 women at University Park.
The two major categories of salary discrepancies -- rank and department -- comprise $13,877 of the total difference in salaries, according to the report.
The salaries of faculty in the business or engineering colleges vary from those in the College of Liberal Arts, said Gabriel Michels, a research and planning associate in the Office of Planning and Analysis.
The report also indicates that minorities make an average of $1,041 more than non-minorities at University Park.
Minorities across all Commonwealth campuses make $988 more than non-minorities.
Today's report will be informational, said Gordon A. Hamilton, chairperson for the Senate Committee on Faculty Affairs.
"The report is there to give a snapshot of what the situation is," Hamilton said.
The individual departments and the central administration will decide whether or not to act upon the results, Hamilton added.
