Police Log

  • Man assaulted on Beaver Avenue: A University student was treated at Ritenour Health Center for minor injuries after being hit in the face by an unknown man on East Beaver Avenue early Sunday morning, State College Bureau of Police Services said.

    Daniel Maher of Mifflin Hall was approached by four men while walking on East Beaver Avenue at about 1 a.m., police said. One of the men asked Maher for a cigarette and an argument ensued when Maher said he didn't have any cigarettes, police said. The man then hit Maher in the nose, police said.

    A description of the man was not available.

  • Criminal Mischief: Dan Weaver of the Office of Physical Plant reported that someone broke the glass in a door at Rec Hall between 12:10 p.m. Monday and 12:10 p.m. yesterday, University Police Services said.

  • Theft: Richard Conner of 135 High St. reported that his bicycle, valued at $1,500, was taken from the east side of Deike Building, University police said. The bike was locked, police said.

    Police said the theft occurred between 4:40 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday.

  • Theft: Employees of Sweitzer Electric in Centre Hall reported that unkown persons took a large spool of wire, valued at $250, from a construction site at Lot 31 R in Chestnut Ridge, Ferguson Township police said.

    Police said the theft occurred between Feb. 5 and Feb. 7.

  • Theft: Jennifer Sieg of 402 Brumbaugh reported that her Nautica down-filled ski jacket was taken from the Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity house, 406 S. Pugh St., early Sunday morning, State College police said.

    The jacket is valued at $175, police said.

  • Theft: Gavin Fernsler, 413 Mifflin Hall, reported that his jacket was taken from his room between 8 p.m. Jan. 8 and 12 p.m. Sunday, University police said. The jacket was valued at $100, police said.

  • Theft: Al Matyasovsky of the Office of Physical Plant reported that a $100 ladder was taken from the basement mechanical room of Willard Building, University police said.

    Police said the theft occurred between 10 p.m. Jan. 8 and 7 p.m. Monday.

  • Theft: Stefan Weaver of 505 Snyder reported that his jacket, valued at $100, was taken from the men's locker room in Rec Hall, University police said.

    Police said the theft occurred between 2:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and 4 p.m. Jan. 5.
