Student struck by unknown vehicle: A University student is in serious condition at Centre Community Hospital after being hit by an unknown vehicle Monday afternoon.
Paul Sussman, 22, of 315 E. Beaver Ave., was riding his bicycle south on Fox Hill Road near Regina Circle at about 4:35 p.m. when he was struck from behind, police said. Police do not have any description of the vehicle, which drove away.
Sussman is listed in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Anyone with information pertaining to the accident should contact the Patton Township police at 234-0271.

Burglary: David Gardiner, 1395 Penfield Road, reported that his wife's purse, containing credit cards, cash and checks, was taken yesterday between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., State College police said.
Police said the person entered Gardiner's house and car. No signs of forced entry were evident, police said. Police have no suspects.

Theft: Officials at United Federal Savings Bank, 122 E. College Ave., reported that a man used a check from a defunct New Jersey bank to receive a large sum of cash, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Police said the man, whose name was not released, opened an account at United Federal on Feb. 1 and wrote the check on Tuesday.
