Man stabbed outside his home: Joseph J. Ray, 924 Bellaire Ave., State College, reported he was attacked from behind and stabbed Tuesday night as he was taking out his garbage, State College Bureau of Police Services said.
Police said Ray, 20, remembers being jumped on from behind at about 11:45 p.m. by one man and then rolling on the ground with two men. Ray was stabbed in the stomach and arm, police said.
Police said Ray was taken to Centre Community Hospital by friends, and a hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released.
An investigation is continuing, police said.

Burglary: Christine Smith, 255 E. Beaver Ave., reported that someone entered her apartment around 2 p.m. Tuesday while she was sleeping and took six compact discs worth $103, State College police said.
Police said there was no sign of forced entry.

Criminal Mischief: Donald Oswalt of the Office of Physical Plant reported the word "peace" and the peace symbol were spray painted in fluorescent orange on Burrowes, Boucke and Whitmore buildings Tuesday night or yesterday morning, University Police Services said.
Police estimated damage at $450.

Theft: Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 139 N. Barnard St., reported that two flags were taken from poles in front of the building between Jan. 27 and Tuesday, State College police said.
Police said the ropes were cut so the flags could be taken down.
