Feeling threatened
I was very disturbed by Chino Wilson column's in The Daily Collegian (Jan. 24.) I find it hard to believe that someone could have such outrageous thoughts. Where does he come up with the ludicrous idea that white people do not value the lives of African-Americans? I value the lives of every human, whether they are black, brown, white, yellow, Israeli, Iraqi, female or whatever. I think that I am smart enough to look past a person's skin color and see them for what they are -- a fellow human being. I also feel threatened by Chino's statements implying that he will act violently to "send the message" out to society. Does he really feel that threatened that he will lash out just to prove that our justice system is racist? In this time of war, we need to concentrate on peace, not violence. Very frankly, I think that Mr. Wilson is the racist. He should look past skin color and see that we are all the same. The way to peace is understanding and unity, not division. I value Chino Wilson's life because he is a human being. But I wonder if he values mine, even though I am white?
