Not surprised
I just read The Daily Collegian's article (Jan. 25) on a new committee to study the campus climate for lesbians and gay men. The article states "the committee will investigate problems facing the University's gay community," so I am assuming the work has not yet begun. The group will look at harassment, community attitudes and, of course, the proposed sexual orientation clause. Let's look at what members on the committee have to say even before they have done their research. "Frankly, I don't care if we win (the sexual orientation clause's adoption) with one vote by the Faculty Senate, but it's essential that this be passed." -- William Tierney, committee chairman "We only want this put in for our own protection." -- Theresa Sumner, committee member and LGBSA political co-director Does anyone else question the objectivity of this group's study? I don't think that I am going to be surprised by their recommendations come March.
