War needed
I am so sick of hearing people say that if Kuwait's major export was broccoli or peanuts the United States would not be involved in the war. If Kuwait's major export was broccoli, Iraq would have never invaded it in the first place. And if Iraq's export was also broccoli and they attacked Kuwait to corner the broccoli market, I'm willing to bet a year's tuition that the United States would still have gotten involved. Iraq did not attack another Arab nation to help the Palestinians. They did it for oil, for money, for power. The United States, along with the other coalition countries, has attacked Iraq to keep Saddam Hussein's power in check. Sanctions against Iraq would have only starved the Iraqi people to death, while the supplies that trickled through Jordan would have gone straight to the Iraqi military. This is why we are involved in this war. We have learned from the mistakes that caused the outbreak of World War II. By defeating the Iraqi military now, we may be avoiding a larger and much deadlier war in the future.
