When most people play Pictionary they usually wouldn't give a second thought to a picture of a fireman. But some University students might ask why contestants didn't draw a firefighter -- a woman firefighter.
 
The J.D.K. Management Company, Inc., of Bloomsburg, has signed a letter of intent to purchase the State College Manor Nursing Home, a Mellon Bank spokesman said Friday.
 
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Samuel Skinner is expected to visit the University Park Airport later this week.
 
Bonnie P. Ortiz, administrative officer for the University of Wisconsin's Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, was appointed director of Penn State's Affirmative Action Office, the University announced Friday.
 
A new $4 million building to house the Paul Robeson Cultural Center was one project approved by the state House of Representatives for inclusion in the University's capital budget.
 
The governor's office is researching the background of one of three University students nominated for student trustee, a position appointed by the governor.
 
A successor to University President Bryce Jordan is unlikely to be announced when the University Board of Trustees meets this week, although a leading candidate may emerge by the end of the month.
 
 
SPORTS
 
This past weekend The 10th Anniversary Second Mile Celebrity Golf Classic was held at the Blue Course. The Second Mile, founded by football defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, is an organization devoted to the welfare of children and youth.
 
Amidst the cheers of the crowd and the flash of photographers, 50 celebrities and numerous local golfers took on the Penn State Blue Course this weekend for a worthy cause.
