University President Bryce Jordan said yesterday he will remain in his position until a new president is in place, even if he has to delay his retirement.
 
In 1979, after months of searching, University administrators offered the position of director of black studies to James B. Stewart.
 
In a tight year for the state budget, the House of Representatives passed a bill yesterday which would give the University only a 2.8 percent increase in its appropriation.
 
A fraternity convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $100 as a result of a "treeing" incident in February 1989 was cleared of all charges in Centre County Court on Tuesday.
 
BELLEFONTE -- Former University student J. David James was found guilty Tuesday in Centre County Court of taking checks intended for the Undergraduate Student Government and depositing them into a personal bank account.
 
A communication link between University administrators and Harrisburg lawmakers that has been closed for almost three years will soon reopen.
 
 
SPORTS
 
For most of the world's elite track and field athletes, finishing anyplace other than first in a world-class event is not acceptable. But for members of Penn State's men's track and field team, making the finals is a reward in itself.
