As black students at the University aspire for careers in big business, law and the sciences, they are becoming the next talent pool for new leadership in the black community.
 
When the Hubble Space Telescope is deployed today from the Space Shuttle Discovery, three University researchers will begin taking part in the new observation opportunities it provides.
 
BELLEFONTE -- When Keith Bierly was a district justice in the Centre Hall area, a severely battered woman was filing charges against her assailant.
 
After more than an hour of debate, the Undergraduate Student Government Senate approved the appointment of Stacy Jimenez as one of the co-directors for the USG Department of Women's Concerns.

A recently donated $2.5 million computer will enable University libraries to expand LIAS services at University Park and Commonwealth campuses, said Eric Ferrin, director of library computer services.
 
 
SPORTS
 
Second baseman Russ Mushinsky hit a game-winning double in the top of the seventh to lead the baseball team (22-13) to a 5-4 victory over James Madison (22-17) in the first half of yesterday doubleheader.
 
Competitive spirit was what first got Lisa Mallios started in gymnastics and a lack of it was what almost got her out of the sport.
 
As the weather finally changed and the warm rays of the sun finally shone down on Happy Valley, people took advantage of it by lying out and goofing around yesterday.
