Short stick

The "Dream died hard" for the Cagers a few days ago in the NIT semifinals. This same dream came true a few months back for the NIT Champion Icers, yet who knew about it?

The "Cinderella team" brought home a national title and wasn't even given the privilege of being headline news in the sports section.

Upon their arrival home, their win was announced over the airwaves, but only a small space was saved for them in the sports section. The photo they received along with their miniscule article was from a game played weeks before.

A large number of the Icer followers were disappointed with the coverage they received, and rightly so. They worked just as hard as the basketball team did to finish the season with outstanding performaces, and should have gotten just as much attention from the media.

Both teams deserved their spots in the NIT tournaments, but when it comes to recognition of their achievements, the Icers got the short end of the stick.
