Strength tests, computer games testing reaction time and blood pressure screenings are a few of the many activities students can take part in at today's "Spring Into Health," Wellness Fair 1990.
The fair, sponsored annually by the Student Health Advisory Board, will be held in the HUB Fishbowl and Reading Room from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
About 30 to 40 University and community organizations are sponsoring tables where students can obtain information about different health related topics, said Scott Ebersol, chairman of the fair.
The American Cancer Society will do cancer risk assessments, the Department of Exercise and Sports Science will conduct strength, flexibility and body composition testing, and the board will present a video and exhibit on organ donation, said Susan Kennedy, adviser to the board.
"It's a lot of fun," Kennedy said.
The fair provides students with an opportunity to get information on a variety of topics at one time, said Susan Tallick, president of the board.
"Students should attend," said Tallick (senior-pre-medicine). "It is a very convenient way to get into a variety of topics people may not think they are interested in right now."
The Student Health Advisory Board plans, executes and evaluates the fair, currently in its sixth year. The board monitors and processes all student comments about the University's Ritenour Health Center services and conducts periodic student surveys.
