Silly elections

Something is rotten in the election coverage, and simple math can prove it.

If, as you claim in the March 22 (Collegian) issue, voter turnout was 6,247, and if Muir got 2,998, Haartz 1,955, Epp 512, VanHorn 340, McCarty 98, Rae 92 and Whitehead 84, then that still leaves some unaccounted-for votes. To be precise, that leaves 168.

ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY EIGHT VOTES! Whatever candidate received these votes would have placed fifth in the elections! Who was it? Ulysses Nimart? Salivation Man? The public has a right to know!

(And if the election results were too embarrassing to print -- for instance, if a "silly" candidate beat three legitimate candidates -- then, perhaps that's what the voters intended, to make the elections look silly.)
