  • Local man arrested on rape charges: A State College man was arrested Saturday morning on charges of raping a female University student, State College Bureau of Police Services said yesterday.

    Alan Rogers, 28, 532 E. College Ave., was arrested at 7 Saturday morning on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and unlawful restraint.

    The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred in the victim's apartment, located in a building on Plaza Drive between 2:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, according to a release.

    Rogers is an acquaintance of the alleged victim, police said. He was arraigned before District Justice Clifford H. Yorks and jailed in Centre County Prison. Bail was set at $50,000.

  • 15-year-old boy injured in accident with car: A 15-year-old boy was slightly injured when he was hit by a car while riding a bike on Westerly Parkway Monday evening, State College police said.

    Russel A. Brunton, 211 Waring Ave., suffered minor cuts and swelling after Catherine Hallinan, 1464 Linn St., hit Brunton as she turned on O'Bryan Lane. Hallinan told police she did not see Brunton in the dark.

    Brunton was knocked off the bike and landed on his feet. He was treated and released from Centre Community Hospital.

  • Two vehicles damaged on Beaver Avenue: Two vehicles were damaged when they collided on West Beaver Avenue Monday night, State College police said.

    A car driven by Charles Kopicz of Fleetwood hit a car driven by Christopher Martincic of Sharpsville as Kopicz turned left on South Burrowes Street, police said. Kopicz said he was not sure if he straddled the line while turning.

    Kopicz was issued a citation.

  • Two PSU students caught with barricade: Two male University students carrying a Penn State owned traffic barricade in Parking Lot Orange B early yesterday morning were apprehended by University Police Services.

    The two were identified at 12:33 a.m. and interviewed by police. They will be referred to the Office of Conduct Standards, police said. Police did not release any further information.

  • Theft: A rifle and a shotgun valued at $750 and owned by Lester Martin Jr. of Snow Shoe Township were reported taken from his residence sometime between Sunday and Monday, state police at Philipsburg said. No further information was available.

  • Theft: Two chairs and a fire extinguisher were reported taken from the third floor of Atherton Hall sometime over the weekend, University police said. The chairs are valued at $80 and the fire extinguisher is valued at $55, police said.
