Skid on landing grounds planes at UP Airport

Airplanes leaving University Park Airport were grounded last night when a plane skidded off the runway during landing.

Assistant Chief Rich Harris said no injuries were reported. Four Alpha Fire Company vehicles responded, Harris said.

An airport employee, who wished not to be identified, said he did not see any damage to the plane, which is from Wisconsin Air.

The plane apparently skidded off the icy runway as it landed, remaining on its wheels.

More than 30 people were stranded until today as a result of the accident. University Police Services was unable to provide details of the accident.
