Offer solutions

Over the last year two leaders have emerged as the clear choice for USG president and vice president.

Every day J.P. Muir and Sue Williams work closely with the many aspects that coexist at our University. Many candidates claim to know the problems at Penn State and the concerns of students, but fail to offer any solutions.

J.P. and Sue have worked hard to identify key concerns that are complemented by a well-planned strategy. Their ideas are progressive and provide for the future of students at Penn State.

J.P. and Sue were the only two candidates who originally recognized the importance of Penn State's membership in the Big Ten and its impact on the students. They plan to initiate a Big Ten Coalition which will enable Penn State students to share common concerns and experiences with other Big Ten students governments.

They researched the status of Ritenour Health Center and brought to light not only the sub-standard conditions of our women's health care, but the fact that the administration is making plans to move our students' health center off campus.

Recognizing that the students are not always consulted or even considered in such decisions, they have vowed, in addition to lobbying here at University Park, to create an internship for a student lobbyist in Harrisburg where many of these "sweeping" decisions are made.

These strategies set J.P. and Sue apart from the rest, but what they really offer the students is a de-emphasis on politics and a re-emphasis on action, implementation and collaboration.

No one knows the entire University community like J.P. and Sue. They recognize the importance of collaboration among different student groups for the advancement of all students' concerns. They have experience in leading both student government and University committees.

J.P., through his dedication to USG's Department of Safety, USG's Supreme Court and IFC as Chapter Programs chair(person), understands how to work with every aspect of student life.

Sue adds further diversity and experience through her work with the residence halls as an executive member of ARHS and housing liaison for the Panhellenic Council.

J.P. Muir and Sue Williams clearly have the greatest experience in leading student groups and understand the students' concerns. Their sole purpose in running for USG President and Vice President is to help create a better University for the students.
