  • Police are investigating alleged State College rape: The State College Bureau of Police Services is investigating the rape of a 21 year-old woman that reportedly happened during the early morning hours Saturday "somewhere indoors" on Plaza Drive.

    The alleged rapist is reportedly an acquaintance of the victim. The suspect is under investigation, police said.

    No other information was available.

  • Man faces four charges after police pull him over: A Port Matilda man was sent to Centre County Prison on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after the car he was driving was stopped on Route 45 for a traffic violation, state police at Rock said.

    James J. Morsillo, 29, was sent to prison in lieu of $1,000 bail after being arraigned before District Justice Clifford H. Yorks, police said.

    Morsillo posted bail and was released from prison yesterday, prison officials said.

  • Four-car, chain-reaction accident injures no one: Four cars were involved in a chain-reaction accident at the intersection of West Foster Avenue and South Burrowes Street at 2:29 Saturday afternoon, State College police said. Nobody was injured.

    Leslee Martin, 20, of Ambler was traveling west on East Foster Avenue and pulled into the intersection, hitting a car driven by Steven G. Mostert, 38, 110 E. Foster Ave., who was traveling south on Burrowes Street, police said.

    Mostert's car continued south on Burrowes Street and rear-ended a parked car belonging to Debra Ann Hoenschied, 21, of White Hall. Hoenschied's car was pushed forward and then rear-ended a car owned by Osamu S. Nakagawa, no age given, of Schenectady, N.Y., police said.

    Martin's car was moderately damaged and had to be towed, police said.

  • Partiers ask for new music, then were allegedly assaulted: Two men were reportedly assaulted at a party Saturday night when they asked the host to change the music, State College police said.

    Douglas Johnson, 736 E. Foster Ave., and John Hayes of Allentown were both allegedly punched during a scuffle that began at about 2:30 Saturday morning when they made their request to the host at 616 E. College Ave. Johnson and Hayes did not give any description of the man who hit them, police said.

  • Four University buildings damaged over weekend: During St. Patrick's Day weekend, four University buildings were damaged.

    On Friday night, someone broke a window near the loading dock of McKee Hall and window screens were taken from the Findlay Computer Laboratory, University Police Services said. The lab was not entered.

    No damage estimates were available for the windows.

    Early Saturday morning, someone broke a window located on the west side of Willard Building. Police said there was no sign of entry.

    Also during the morning hours Saturday, someone pushed over a statue located in front of the Material Research Laboratory and removed an office window screen from the same building. The statue was undamaged and no damage estimate was available for the window.

    Police said the incidents are unrelated.

  • Burglary: The door to William Updegraff's office in the Medical Arts Building, 211 W. Beaver Ave., was kicked in sometime between Friday and Saturday, and several desks and briefcases were ransacked, State College police said. Police were not sure if any items were taken from office.

  • Criminal Mischief: Two tires on a car belonging to Renee Shevchik, 7 Woodman Circle, were reported slashed sometime between Saturday and Sunday while the car was parked in the Nittany Mall parking lot, State College police said. No damage estimate was available.

  • Criminal Mischief: University police arrested a man who attempted to remove a bench from the Pollock Landscape Shop at 1:47 Saturday morning. The man, a Penn State student, was cited and released.

  • Theft: A $1,000 money certificate was reported taken from a mailbox belonging to Todd Waybright, 101 N. Patterson St., at 9:30 Saturday morning, State College police said. Police said Waybright had earlier reported his keys, including the key to the mailbox in the Calder Way Post Office, as missing.
